Evan: I'm a retired biology professor who grew up on Crescent Heights Blvd. chasing insects through the vacant lot of Adohr Farms on La Cienega Blvd. that abutted the dairy and the trucks. Do you have any photos of this facility? I only found photos from their main plant in Reseda.

I think this Helipad is the covered portion of the intake tower of the old Baldwin Hills Resevoir. The site was filled in to create the park.

The actual location has been extensively researched and posted in the above referenced blog post. I have read the available information over and over and have come to the conclusion that the property, as marked, represents the approximate boundaries of the 5 acre ranch.

I am currently researching Surfridge and came across your note of 4 years ago. I've been unable to find photos of the area when it was thriving....only those prior to demolition. Where did you locate the 1940 photos and did the redcar run below Vista del mar on the sand level or in front of the houses???

abandoned freeway offramp,

These two off ramps are the former Barham Blvd exits going into Burbank. I believe these two off ramps were abandoned when the freeway was reconfigured and expanded (date unknown) to accommodate traffic increases on the freeway. The Barham Blvd exits were lengthened and expanded (further north and south respectively). Additionally these were the primary off ramps used by the Universal Studio Tours and needed to be moved as the popularity of the venue grew. Why they were abandioned in place was probably a matter of economics.

My father worked for the Goodyear tire and rubber company in Akron Oh. He was from California and could not take the summer humidity of Ohio while working in a hot environment inside the plant. He started when he was 18 years old (1925) and after two years transferred to the new Los Angeles plant (1927) He worked there 10 years before meeting and marrying my mother(1937). These were the years of the depression and my mom always joked that the reason she married him was because he had a good job. He retired in the summer of 1970 after 43 years, 45 years if you count Akron Oh. It was the only job he ever had.

I worked at the hospital for a few months prior to my enlistment in the military in 1967. It was in the admitting area, and I was a page. Carry luggage, showed people to their rooms. Talked with on of the Cosby boys in an elevator and pushed Anthony Franciosa in a wheel chair.
