There's an electrical access tunnel that runs under the school, and continues on to the old Nike base in Playa Del Rey. The tunnel can be accessed through a steel trap door in the auditorium. The door is located on the floor adjacent to the light control room backstage. I was in this tunnel many times during the late 60's. I was part of the student stage crew that worked setting up plays and other school functions. We would sneek down there to smoke and screw around. It's a concrete tunnel, about 6 feet high, and about 8 feet wide. Electrical conduit runs the length. I was told that there were more levels of tunnels below the main one. There are periodic trap doors along the length of the tunnel, all of which were locked, some needing 2 keys. I was lucky enough to be trusted with opening up the auditorium using the teachers key. The key fit the trap door so instead of locking it back up, I just kept it unlocked. No one figured it out.At the end of the tunnel it opened up to a height of maybe 12 feet and it was about that wide. We never made it in to any of the silos cause there were thick concrete doors that were on rails. Painted on the wall was " Stand clear when siren sounds ". Never got caught. Just a side note to show how times have changed, when we worked school functions we had to wear red vests, and got paid 10 cents an hour. My first check was for $1.10, I felt rich !!
