  • Stage 5 Sunset Gower, Frank (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
This used to be the music scoring stage when Columbia Pictures owned the lot. Originally it was built for filming. The old Vitaphone sound booth can be seen up on the north wall. Many years ago it was covered over with soundproofing material when Columbia moved the booth to the back wall.

The Janss family later traded most of Westwood Village for Sun Valley, Idaho, with some brightly-colored baubles thrown in. The Janss Corporation was active in developing over 10,000 acres of prime land in Southern California, but went out of business in the early 1980's.

Back in the 1950s, my folks would take me to Beverly Park. They had a pony ride plus a small rollercoaster. I agree. The mall is dreadful. The worst in all of LA. Worst parking lot of any mall. The whole thing should be razed and the amusement park restored.
