Great field, not a bad seat in the house. Very small stadium gives you a great view of all the action.
  • Serrania Avenue Park, Andy (guest) wrote 7 years ago:
Serrania park, which was a plant nursery and the adjacent gated community, Westchester County, were formerly owned by NBC. It was supposed to be the original filming site of "Little House on The Prairie". The sets were built and ready to go. The homeowners banded together and forced them to move, paving the way for the sale to the builders of Westchester County.

Point 1: The entire shipyard property is not going to become the SpaceX property, only part of it. Point 2: the SpaceX property isn't even built yet; why the rush to move this to the historical layer for a PROPOSED, UNBUILT project? Those are the kinds of tags we deleted around here, last I checked.
  • Hal Roach Studios-original footprint (historical site), Junior (guest) wrote 7 years ago:
Interesting comment about keeping a building as a Museum. I worked at Roach for 12 years,in the 50s. it was a booming factory of TV. I was in the military in 1963 during the demolition, but my father, "Bones" Vreeland was the CEO and I kept up on the demise of the Studio, which he tried to slow down, but Hal Roach Jr. had financially ruined the Company and there was nothing left at the end to do but walk away from the wonderful place. Nobody was interested in any Remembrances of it. There were just the vultures ready to turn it into a car lot. bvreeland@roadrunner.com

Followed the comments and It should be moved as suggested to the historic layer as a portion of the space is about to become the construction site of the BFR. https://www.portoflosangeles.org/Board/2018/March%202018/03_15_18_Special_Agenda_Item_7_Transmittal_1.pdf

  • Laurel & Hardy - the "Music Box" steps, James Graves (guest) wrote 7 years ago:
I live in San Diego. But several years ago I happen to see the Music Box just before a trip up to L.A. At that point I decided to look up the location. It was easy enough to find and I really enjoyed seeing them. I walked all the step up to the top. That would have been quite a job to lift a piano up all those steps. From the bottom of the steps looking up, there are a pair of garage doors. Then going up the stairs there are apartments the entire way on the right hand side. During the time I was there it occurred to me that people living in those apartments and parking in the garages next to them probably know very little about the history. There is that plaque at the bottom, but I doubt people really pay much attention to it. It was fun to see them.
