    I raced my 1965 El Camino on San Fernando Rd. and got a ticket for exhibition of speeed for smoking the tires at the light next to the freeway between the 2 gas stations. Police chased me toward San Fernando Rd. I decided to stop and got written up. This was before they impounded vehicles. Raced my dad's 1966 Ford Truck with a 390 running on half jet fuel & 100 octane that we got free from Van Nuys Airport while my dad was at Indy 500. I got a ticket that day racing my friends 74 Camaro that I beat. Went with my friend in his 1991 Nissan Sentra SE-R and embarassed a bunch of imports that were visually modified. Ah.. and my 71 Chevelle with open headers that I had mufflers jammed in with a short pipe that dragged sparks across the ground. I got pulled over and they found a CB radio in my car along with a scanner. 4 cop cars stopped behind me and tried to scare me from coming back. Didn't happen. Much more to tell. There should be a more true story of the San Fernando Road street racing.

    What you label as the "Molecular Biology building" is NOT that. It is the "Molecular Sciences building". The Molecular Biology Institute or Building is the original name of what now is referred to as "Boyer Hall". As the second Director of the Molecular Biology Institute (1983-1994) I take issue with this casual scrambling of our traditions. Richard E.
