I love these little nooks of forgotten history in Los Angeles. This was undoubtedly an off-the-beaten-track locale for illicit romance, drugs, people seeking refuge from sordid circumstances, bootleggers, characters from Raymond Chandler stories...

I was born at the Queen of Angels Hospital on March 10, 1933. Exactly at the time of the BIG earthquake.
A photographer came in the next morning and took a picture of me and my mother in her room. My claim to fame.

Cool to think I was born at what is now the Dream Center & that it is carrying on the legacy of care for the community that the Franciscan nuns began!

I was born there May 24, 1952. My mother was a graduate of it's diplomate school of nursing. Upon graduating, she worked in the preemie nursery. When I was born she was inspired by the Latin saying over the altar, Regum Angelorum. It translated to the name which I was given: Angela Regina. My parents divorced shortly after I was born. Because my mom was a single parent, working round-the-clock shifts, the Franciscan nuns were my baby sitters. They would take me into the gift shop and let me pick from the holy cards. They were so wonderful to me and my Moms. If anyone has photos of the chapel or the hospital in general, especially the thrift shop, please contact me on Facebook: Angi Simon, Washington state.
