Los Angeles, CA recent comments:

  • Los Feliz, John (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
If you are going to tell people how not to pronounce it, why not tell them what the correct way is? I have lived here 15 years and everyone I know here in the area calls it "Los-FEE-Liz", like the Spanish pronounciation, which seems logical. Feliz in Spanish means happy, as in "Feliz Navidad", so why wouldn't it be pronounced exactly like it is in the Spanish phrase, since most things in Los Angeles are Hispanic related?

This patch of coastal sage scrub is inhabited by California gnatcatchers and Palos Verdes blue butterflies. The endangered PV blue was thought extinct after Rancho Palos Verdes built a baseball park on top of prime PV blue habitat in 1987. The last colony in existence was rediscovered here in 1994.

This was the site of Bing Crosby's home, torn down to make room for the Spelling Mansion. Candy Spelling (Aaron's widow) purchased an under construction 2 story penthouse condo in Century City for a record 47 million dollars in July 2008. Her new bedroom is reported to be 4000sf. The building is being built on the site of the old St. Regis Hotel on Avenue of the Stars next door to the Century Plaza Hotel.

Yes, the Esther Williams former home has been removed as has "The Pink Palace", former home of Jayne Mansfield, Cass Elliot, & Englebert Humperdinck. These were the only three homes on South Carolwood which is now a private drive for Owlwood. I read the current owner of the property is the president of Ameriquest.
