It used to sit on a much larger lot. Much of it was sold and subdivided. Harold Lloyd had a small 9 hole golf course. So did neighbor Jack Warner. In order to play a full 18, they'd open a gate to the adjoining properties. Those must have been the days!

At one time, the studio contained all the land Century City currently sits on. Nearly 300 acres. After the debacle that was CLEOPATRA, Fox was forced to sell the huge backlot that contained numerous exterior sets.

Stages 11 through 14 were the first sound stages purposely built on the Paramount lot. Right after they were completed they burned to the ground. This forced Paramount to pay workers around the clock to rebuild them which they did in under six months.

Was originally a large exterior water tank (A tank) that was covered over with a tin-walled stage. Converted into a sound stage in the 1930s. It opens to adjacent stage 14 which turns it into a larger stage. Doors on 11 &12 open onto 14. Some of the largest sets used at Paramount were shot when all the stages were combined.

This was originally the RKO music scoring stage. Later on when Desilu bought the lot, Glen Glenn Sound took it over operating it as a Foley stage (Stage F) as well as a music recording stage. The original STAR TREK TV series was scored on that stage. Stage 24A no longer exists nor does 22. The dividing walls were knocked down and now they 're part of two larger stages.

It became Stage 5 at Columbia and was the first sound stage on the lot. Later on it became the music scoring stage. The original Vitaphone sound booth is still up on the north wall, now covered over with soundproofing material.

This was the famed Goldwyn music recording stage where such notable films score as GONE WITH THE WIND, MY FAIR LADY, WEST SIDE STORY and THE ALAMO were recorded. In the latter part of the 1970s it reverted back to filming.
