The top of the central stone tower has been reconstructed of faux stone. A Carondelet nun once described with some amusement how Hollywood prop technicians had created the look-a-like stones to replace original stones shaken loose in an earthquake. The Carondelet community is well known for its admirable work in health care, education and social justice. However, they are no purists when it comes to historic conservation. Otherwise, the Stimson House is a treasure inside and out.

Apparently this entry was made after one of those long nights of drinking. It's really across the street as noted by Peter, and the food quality is better than suggested.

With better imagery, this does not appear to be a house designed by John Lautner. I don't currently have the list of addresses of Lautner projects that I originally added this entry from. The url is in one of the LA Lautner project entries. I would suspect it's one of these two houses either to the East or the West, their rooflines look more space-agey.
